Anhydrous magnesium sulfate is an inorganic compound with the molecular formula MgSO4 and colorless rhombic crystal system. Soluble in water, ethanol, glycerol, insoluble in acetone. Used in pharmaceutical and printing and dyeing industry, can also be used as desiccant, feed, fertilizer or compound fertilizer, but also the production of magnesium oxide raw materials.
Anhydrous magnesium sulfate MgS04 is white or off-white powder, density 2.66kg /m3, melting point 1124ºC, soluble in water, glycerin, alcohol, slightly soluble in ether, easy moisture absorption, heated in the air to 450ºC, into basic magnesium sulfate. When heated to 1124ºC, Mg0, 02, S02 and S03 are decomposed at a high rate, and 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 12 hydrates can be formed with water.
