Ammonium chloride, a white crystalline solid, possesses several notable physical properties. It exhibits high solubility in water,readily dissolving to form a clear, colorless solution. At room temperature, it sublimes easily, meaning it transitions directly from a solid to a vapor without passing through a liquid phase-a characteristic commonly observed when heating the compound. It has a distinct odor and a salty taste. Its crystal structure is often described as being composed of chloride ions and ammonium ions held together by strong ionic bonds. Additionally, it displays a tendency to absorb moisture from the atmosphere, a property known as hygroscopicity, which can lead to caking or clumping if not stored properly. Furthermore, it demonstrates endothermic dissolution in water, meaning it absorbs heat from its surroundings during the dissolution process, resulting in a cooling effect.

 

 

Application Process

It is a physiological acid fertilizer, which should not be applied on acidic soil and saline-alkali soil because of its high chlorine content, and should not be used as seed fertilizer, seedling fertilizer or leaf fertilizer, nor should it be applied on chloride-sensitive crops (such as tobacco, potato, citrus, tea tree, etc.).

Ammonium chloride has a high and stable fertilizer effect in paddy field, because chloride can inhibit nitrification in paddy field, and is beneficial to the formation of rice stalk fiber, increase toughness, and reduce lodging and infestation of rice.

Is There Any Harm in Using Fertilizer?

There is no harm in fertilizers in conscious use. However, fertilization without soil analysis may cause the reintroduction of sufficient minerals to the soil, and an excess of some elements may cause a problem.

With regular analysis, applying a sufficient amount of fertilizer does not cause any harm to our farmers. For these reasons, fertilizer can be used in every geography from South Korea to Egypt in accordance with all climatic conditions.

Ammonium chloride can be used as base fertilizer, topdressing fertilizer, can not be used as seed fertilizer. In addition, for chloride resistant crops (tobacco, sugar cane, potatoes, etc.) can not be applied in large quantities.
